Rosine Marie Renken (nee Sinicki)

Rosine Marie Renken (nee Sinicki), 90, of Freeport, NY, peacefully passed away on May 16, 2023 in Mineola, NY. Rosine was born on July 8, 1932 in Binghamton, NY to Anthony and Mary Sinicki. She attended Binghamton Central High School before pursuing higher education at SUNY Cortland where she met her husband, Albert F. Renken. Family responsibilities temporarily interrupted her academic studies. She is a graduate of Nassau Community College (AA), Hofstra University (BA), and Long Island University at CW Post where she obtained a MS in Library Science. Rosine was a devoted school librarian at Northern Parkway Elementary School in the Uniondale School District. She was passionate about instilling the love of reading and learning in children and was beloved by her colleagues and students. Outside of her career, Rosine was an avid quilter and reader, and was an excellent cook. She also had a green thumb and enjoyed small garden flower and vegetable horticulture. Rosine cherished her family and avidly encouraged her children to pursue a well-rounded suite of artistic, musical, and athletic endeavors. She would make beautiful clothing for her granddaughters that included matching outfits for their dolls. Rosine loved going to the beach, both locally and in distant locations. She was her husband's closest advisor during his career as the principal at Freeport and W. Tresper Clarke High Schools and during his tenure on the Freeport school board. Rosine is survived by her sons, Robert A. (Mary Ann) and Bruce C. (Lauren), daughter Cheryl Dorfman, granddaughters Elizabeth, Courtney, Alexandra, Kelsie Renken, and Jemmie (Michael DellAccio), grandsons Christopher and Justin Renken (Stephanie), Michael (Joann) and Luke (Lauren) Dorfman, five great-grandchildren with two more on the way, sister Maureen Sinicki, and sister-in-law, Judy Potts-Sinicki. She is preceded in death by her husband, Dr Albert F. Renken, parents Anthony and Mary Sinicki, and brothers Robert and Richard Sinicki. The family welcomes friends to the viewing at Hungerford and Clark, Freeport, NY, on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral mass will be held at Our Holy Redeemer Church on Monday at 9:30am. Interment will be at St. Charles Cemetery in Farmingdale, NY.
