Carl lived a full and vibrant life marked by adventure, family, and a passion for helping others create memories through travel. Carl spent his early years in South Carolina, where he enjoyed running track, playing basketball, and immersing himself in the magic of movies. He had a deep appreciation for storytelling and the way films could transport him to new places. In 1956, he relocated to New York City to attend Food Trade Vocational High School, where he studied culinary arts and business management. There, he studied culinary arts and business management, laying the foundation for a career marked by skill, dedication, and entrepreneurship. This move not only marked the beginning of Carl’s journey into the workforce but also set the stage for the most meaningful chapter of his personal life. On September 28th, 1958 Carl met the love of his life, Pearl. After 2 years of dating, they got engaged in July or 1960. On March 25th, 1961, they were united in holy matrimony. They moved to New York City, where their 3 sons, Carl Jr., Darrin and Kevin were born. Throughout his career, Carl worked at Food Pageant Supermarket and Grand Union Supermarket before transitioning to the New York City Transit Authority as a bus operator, where he retired in 2000 after years of service. Carl’s entrepreneurial spirit and love for adventure were evident in his work with Cruisers & Voyagers Travel Inc., which he built alongside his favorite travel and experience partner, his late wife, Pearl, beginning in 1985. Their love for exploring the world inspired them to evolve the business into C&V Classic Vacation Inc., where they helped countless others experience the joy of travel. Together, they traversed the globe, creating unforgettable memories and sharing their passion for adventure with others. On December 3, 2024, Carl departed this life but his impact lives on. Carl’s legacy is one of resilience, love, and dedication to family. He will be remembered for his warm smile, his adventurous spirit, vast knowledge, and his unwavering belief in the importance of living life to the fullest. He is preceded in death and welcomed into eternal rest by his beloved wife, Pearl, and his mother, Olivia Hembrooks. Carl's greatest joy came from the time he spent with his family and friends, creating cherished memories that will be treasured forever by: Sons: Carl Jr. (Frances), Darrin (Myra), Kevin (Chari). Grandchildren: Jared, Dominique, Christopher, Tiffany, Jasmine, Mateo, Kaci. Great grandchildren: Hallie and Ryver. Though Carl is no longer with us, may his memory and wisdom continue to inspire and guide all who knew him.
