Neil R. McLellan

Neil R. McLellan spent part of his childhood in Brooklyn Heights until moving to Freeport, where he became a longtime resident. After graduating from Freeport High School in 1953, Neil attended Columbia College and became an active and proud alum of the Class of 1957. Neil taught at Freeport High School, Memorial Junior High School in Valley Stream and as an adjunct professor at Nassau Community College. Neil was predeceased by his parents, Neil R. McLellan and Rita Farren McLellan and by his sister Ann Farren McLellan. Neil was a loving husband to Doris Bretzger McLellan for 57 years and devoted father to Diane McLellan Morrison and Jeanne McLellan and to their spouses, Steve Morrison and George Winter. He was a very proud and supportive grandfather to Sebastian Winter, who shares his love of reading, chess, horse racing, history and baseball caps. Neil loved teaching and mentoring teachers and students, baseball, horseracing, and history, but most of all he took particular pride and delight in his many wonderful longtime friends and his close relationships with his all of his cousins, aunts, uncles and grandparents. He will be missed. Roar Lion Roar! Family will receive friends on Monday 2 – 4 & 7 – 9 PM. Religious Service Tuesday 10:00AM at Funeral Home Interment at Greenfield Cemetery will be private.
