Michael Christopher Eklund

August 31, 1974 - January 18, 2022

God called Michael Christopher Eklund home suddenly on January 18, 2022 at the age of 47. He was a passionate drummer who continued to hone his craft for 40 years and made innumerable friends with fellow musicians across Long Island. Michael was employed by Spectra Audio Visual Design during the week, taught drum lessons at a music studio in Smithtown on Saturdays and enjoyed working at A & F Market in Manhasset where he was known as Mad Dog. Michael will be missed and mourned by the many who love him including his parents, Gus and Pat of Freeport, his brother Brian and Alyssia, his nephew/godson Kristopher of Long Beach, his girlfriend Nicole, as well as his extended family, too many to name. A Visitation for family & friends will be held Sunday at Hungerford & Clark Funeral Home. A funeral mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at Our Holy Redeemer R.C. Church at 9:30am. Interment will follow at Holy Rood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations to Wounded Warriors, Tunnel to Towers, St Jude Children’s Hospital, or Make A Wish Foundation would be greatly appreciated as a tribute to Michael.
