Jean Robert Aristhene

Jean Robert Aristhene affectionately referred to as “Bob” was born on October 04, 1954, in Port au Prince Haiti to Fernande Aristhene and Julema J. Riche. He was a brother to Claudette, Frank, and Raphael and found an extended family in the Lubins, Dragons and Bastiens. Bob grew up in Haiti before immigrating to the United States as a young teenager and lived in Brooklyn with his mother. After graduating high school Bob attended college at Bronx Community College and City College where he found a passion in photography while pursuing a psychology degree. While in college he met his future wife Myrtha who he later married in August of 1978. Bob and Myrtha would go on to have three children Andrew, Farrah and Patrick Aristhene while also embracing the role of father figure to Natacha Joseph whom he loved as his own. Shortly after the birth of his first child Andrew, Bob enlisted in the Air Force where he proudly served for 4 years. After returning home from the Air Force Bob began a career at Fed-Ex where he would stay until retirement. Bob had many joys in life, he was an avid nature photographer, some of his works were nominated for local awards and can be found in various publications. He was often the man behind the camera capturing the cherished memories for family and friends alike. He was also a lover of music, especially jazz. He enjoyed reading and writing poetry but was selective with whom he shared it with. Bob also loved sci-fi movies and shows which he bonded with his children over, often spending time watching Star Trek and Star Wars with them. Bob was a skilled chess player who would often play on his computer but really took the time to sit and teach each of his children the strategic game of chess and the life lessons that could be learned from it. Jean-Robert Aristhene passed away after a long-fought battle with cancer on May 31, 2023. He was an honorable man, who was known for being kind, empathetic, and a very supportive friend. Above all else he was an amazing father who never let his children down. He will forever be loved and missed, but he will always be remembered. May he rest in peace.
