Arnold Vilfort

Arnold Vilfort of long Island New York Passed away on April 23, 2024, his funeral service will be held at Hungerford and Clark Funeral Home. 110 Pine Street Freeport NY 11520. Mass will follow at Saint Boniface Church 640 Elmont Road Elmont New York 11003. Arnold Vilfort was the oldest son of Marie Victorine Lapointe and Jolius Soumerville Vilfort. He was raised by his maternal grandmother Mrs. Amodius Lapointe (Madan Amo). His desire to assist his family, especially his grandmother, made him the warrior that we know him to be. He attended school at Damoncies Viedx in Carrefour and his teachers described him as smart and polite. He excelled academically and skipped few grades. Arnold had a strong sense of responsibility at an early age; he elected to follow a path that led him to trade school where he tried his hands in construction, carpentry and to finally discover his love of mechanics. He was an entrepreneur and very optimistic about his future. He knew no boundaries and was eager to learn. His uncle taught him to drive. He got his driver’s license as a teenager and soon after started renting Van (Camionette) from family members; it didn’t take him long to acquire his own van and started his own transportation service. He started with public transportation in Port- au- Prince and grew to carry passengers from Port-au-Prince to Grand Goave and then from Port-au- Prince to Anse a Veau, Petit Trou de Nippes. For many decades he continued to grow his business, as he added construction trucks to his fleet and owned several other businesses in Port- au- Prince, Leogane, Anse-a- Veau and Petit Trou de Nippes. Arnold had a big heart helping not only family members but whomever was in need. People who knew him said he never left a passenger behind because of money he will say let’s go you will pay whenever you can. He didn’t fear bad weather nor challenging road conditions. He carried many people to their final destinations safely and trained his drivers to do the same. Arnold’s love for his family was unconditional. He married at a young age to Marie Yvette Vilfort, and had 6 kids with one daughter who passed away as an infant. Arnold Left behind his sisters: Gislain, Raymonde. Choucoune and Sonia, his brothers Jean Raymond, Fekson, Jean Claude and Junior. His children: Josette, Charles J., Yanique, Noldy, Giordani, Judith, Carline, Yves, Patricia, Nedgine, RouRousse, MichaelAnge, Kerline, Marjorie, Perpetua, Marie Victorie, Vanessa and Cartina. His grandchildren: Sue, Carlnick, Ana Yvette, Christina, Charles Henry, Anthony,Christian, Deneelyn, Gesnie, Giordli, Wiliansey, Mithni, Nirah, Giovani, Samuel, Ian, Deneesha, Naomi, MichelAngelo, Karla, Ann-Christin, Lynn-Shanna, Karlhentz, Karnely. His nieces and Nephews: Marie Carmelle, Carole, Yves, Erick, Edwidge, Simotte, Wiken, Jean Pierre, Maude. His Cousins: Daniel, Elizabeth, David, Elvine, Jean Mark, Clarens, Emannuela, Frantz, Muller, Louis, Myrlande, Anselm, Joseph, Wesner, Margarette, Yvrose, Margo, Nazaire, Amos, Darline. Sincere condolences to the families Vilfort, Odeville, Paul, Depradines, Michel, Tessono, Levasseur, Avril, Mondelice, Lapointe, Hilaire, Jolicoeur, Pierre, Soumerville, Vieux, Saint Leger, Codio, Desiree, Semesier, Chenet, Garces, etc. Stepchildren and family-in-law and friends.
