Born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, Adeline was the youngest of nine children born to Narcisus Mehu and Jeanne Pouponeau. Adeline's life was a testament to kindness and devotion. After pursuing a career in education, she discovered her calling in healthcare, completing her nursing training at Saint Michel Archange in Quebec, Canada. Her journey led her to Jersey City, New Jersey, where she began her nursing career at Pollack Hospital for Chest Diseases before relocating to Chicago, Illinois. In 1970, Adeline married the love of her life, Fritz Pierre Antoine, becoming a cherished mother to Marie Victoria. Throughout her 30-year nursing career at Montefiore Hospital and North Central Bronx Hospital, Adeline touched countless lives with her compassionate care and unwavering dedication. Adeline's retirement years were filled with joy as she indulged in her favorite pastimes—shopping, gardening, and attending daily church services. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, evident in her active involvement with the Catholic Daughters of America and her family's annual observance of daily prayers with the Mother Mary statue in her home. Above all, Adeline's greatest joy was her family. Her home was a sanctuary where she showered loved ones with affection and hosted unforgettable holiday celebrations. Adeline's famous butter cookies and her cherished soup joumou on New Year's Day were cherished traditions that brought joy to all. Adeline Antoine will be deeply missed and forever remembered for her boundless love, generosity, and unwavering belief in the power of family. Her legacy of kindness and compassion will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her. Adeline is survived by her daughter Marie Victoria Antoine Cameau (Carlo), her grandchildren Camille and Fritz Cameau, her nephew Joseph Apollon (Sandra), and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fritz Pierre Antoine.
